Physical Therapy

As their professional title implies, Physical Therapists use physical means such as manual therapies, heat, cold, ultrasound, laser, various types of electrical stimulation, and specifically designed therapeutic exercises to treat a variety of medical conditions and injuries.

Physical Therapy is designed to evaluate and assess physical deficits and dysfunction, restore motion and function and decrease pain, correct deformities, increase muscle strength, flexibility and endurance, decreases swelling/inflammation of joints , prevent injury, and improve balance, coordination, and walking ability.

Our goal is to provide you with hands-on care and guide you during recovery from an injury or painful or debilitating condition.

PPD / Disability Rating

  • Directed at conditions that have reached MMI

Functional Capacity Evaluation using The Blankenship System®

  • State of the art testing for musculoskeletal strength, static strength, and range of motion
  • Features AcuLift® system, providing scientific data and identifying three critical elements of dynamic lifting: pain, effort and muscular overload
  • Offers three frequencies: occasional, frequent and constant for testing of material handling
  • Administered only by certified, experienced therapists

Pediatric Rehab

Commonwealth Rehabilitation Center provides an array of pediatric rehabilitation services to the community.

Services include but are not limited to:

  • Individualized, age appropriate programs directed at maximizing the child's potential.
  • Creating fun, creative, practical pathways to independence.

Signs Your Child May Need Pediatric Rehab

  • Not walking by 18 months
  • Inability to dress self
  • Inability to roll, crawl, sit or talk at appropriate age level
  • Inability to follow simple directions
  • Walks on toes
  • Poor balance or coordination
  • Poor attention span
  • Problems with speech
  • Poor nutritional choices / Eats only certain types of food

Meet Robin Tomer, Commonwealth's Power Mobility Specialist. Robin is experienced in providing independent mobility equipment and seating & positioning accessories based on individual patient needs.

She has received advanced training in conducting patient assessments and matching each patient’s needs with the appropriate equipment.
